| Pronto Track Installation Accurate spacing is the key to a good Pronto Changeable Letter system. Refer to the diagram shown here to select the method of track installation you prefer and determine the total height of your sign. The use of dual track automatically spaces the rows and reduces the number of bars required. If row spacing needs to be greater use a combination of top and bottom track. First lay out all track on the background and tack it down with tape just to get an idea of the spacing. Measure twice and install once rule applies here. Always check to make sure that all retainers holding the background are taken into account when measureing the actual space that you have to work with.
Attaching Track to Plastic If the surface you are attaching Pronto track onto will
expand and contract at somewhat the same rate as the plastic track, installation can be done using either rivets or adhesive. Mark the location for your first bar of track making sure you can remove the marks after the track has been set. Pen works best, but YOU need to test that it will come off. Do not use oil based thinner to remove marks, try denature alcohol or a citrus based remover. Test on a piece of scrap first, the wrong cleaner can cause your plastic / acrylic material to crack or polycaronate to melt. Rivet installation Drill a hole through the track and background (maximum 8" center to center). To fasten track to 1/8" background, drill .191-diameter hole (#11 drill bit). To fasten track to ¼" background, drill .219 diameter hole (7/32"drill bit). Insert the Pronto rivet, and then push the pin to its closed position. (Drill at a minimum of 1800 RPM using a #11 drill bit with a 30* angle and 0* rake.) Go slow or you will crack the material. A dull drill bit works the best.
Adhesive installation Apply a steady line of adhesive, such as WELD-ON, to the back face of the bar of track. This is a adhesive only available from select sources that is meant for this type of job. Tape in place until adhesive has set up completely. Use a high grade clear tape to hold the track to the background material, don't use the cheap no name/brand. Contact us to obtain the proper adhesive. Do not use over the counter products!
Attaching Track to Wood or Metal If the surface you are attaching Pronto track onto will not expand or contract (ie. wood or metal) at the same rate as the plastic track, we recommend the following installation procedure: - Drill or route horizontal oblong or oversized holes in the track as in the illustration above.
- Using a sheet metal screw, because of its squared shoulder; put the screw in the center of the horizontal hole.
- Do not tighten the screw. Leave it approximately ¼ to ½ turn loose.
- When all the screws are in the track you should be able to wiggle horizontally as small distance.
- Now the track is able to expand or contract with temperature changes, and shouldn`t buckle or warp.

| | TRACK SPACING | | Measurements are from the top of the top track to the bottom of the bottom track. Note that the smaller track retainer goes on the bottom and the larger track retainer goes on top. You slide the letters up into the large track retainer and the letters sit down on the smaller track retainer. Call and ask questions, we have twenty years of experience doing this. |
